Error while starting ERS instance

Hi ,

Not able to start ERS instance .Seems some permission issue has been occour.

while starting instance giving error

/usr/sap/SID/ERS11/exe/sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -nr 11 -function Start

startup of Instance failed

See /home/sidadm/startsap_ERS11.log for details

Log Below:-

13:06:09

Start

FAIL: HTTP error, HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized

I checked in /tmp folder  files related to ERS having sidadm permission

Before it was working fine.

Hi Adil,

Please check the below points:

1) Are you login with sidadm?

2) Does the kernel files for ERS have correct user and group permissions?

3) Is sidadm member of the sapsys group ?

Also try to delete all the .sap temporary files in /tmp directory and kill any old process if any related to ERS instance and then start the ERS instance.

1664214 - Upgrade is not able to start or stop an instance because of an "HTTP error 401 Unauthorize...

Hi Adil,

Please check

Is sapstartsrv process running with the profile?

If yes kindly do the clean shutdown and try to start the system.

Check for the permision to sapstream files in /tmp.

srwxrwxrwx    1 <sid>adm   sapsys            0 Aug 26 2012  .sapstreamXXXXX

you can do the chmod 777 <specific file>.

Hi Adil,

Here sapstartsrv not able to create .sapstream5$$11 file under /tmp folder as it may already there or not owned by <sid>adm.Just check this first.

I recommend you to restart you server to clear the file.If still file exists remove or move manually to some other location & start the instance again.This will resolve your issue.

One more thing check directory permissions on /tmp directory also.
