what is the need or use of fault message type under interface objects in ESR?

Hi Ravi,
Fault message type is for application error. For example if you call a web service (synchronous scenario) and the message is in error (because of input payload or processing), web service is give the fault response. you need to capture the response in fault message type.
In sync scenario we define request, response and fault processing. Please refer the below blog and help for more detail
