Dear Experts.
Recently kernel upgrade to 720 patch 500 is done in my PRD, after kernel upgrade background jobs are running for very long time, please suggest if there is any troubleshooting for the same.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Mohd Basis
Hello,
TO investigate why background job is running for long time ,check for below possible issues which
might have impact on job run.
1. Check for any resource bottleneck like high CPU usage or memory bottleneck
2. Check if locks are being held for long time/many locks in SM12
3. Check for load balancing is set in the system and if yes, if it is working properly (e.g. :host dedicated for background jobs)
4. Check if background work processes are sufficient
5. Check Sm21 logs for any shared memory related error or any other error
6. Check for dumps/ job log
Hope this helps

Hi Mohd,
Can you once refresh the job status with Job-->Check Status.
To investigate more over the cause have a look to Logs of concern background workprocess in SM50
There you can trace out the issue.
Please share the same.

Hi,
Did you check the Job in Quality System?. Can you please let us know the Job name. I dont think this is related to Kernel Upgrade .
Thanks & Regards

Hi Mohd.,
1) What is this job about and what is the difference in time before kernel upgrade and post kernel upgrade.
2) How many jobs have problem ?
