SUM tool error regarding sapcontrol service

arsnlgunnr

Hi,

I am upgrading a NW 7.3 JAVA only instance using the SUM 1.0 SP9 patch 7 tool.  During the specify credentials phase I am getting the following error:

"The sapcontrol service certificate is not trusted for host XXXXXXXX, instance 0. For more information, see section "Verifying the Service SSL credentials" in the SUM guide."

I have done many upgrades using the SUM tool and have never seen this error.  I looked for a relevant note, but could not find one.  Any help on how to get around this would be greatly appreciated.

Download SUM 1.0 SP09 Patch 8.

Hi

Take note that Patch 0 for SUM10_SP10 as released on 17 March 2014 shows the same issues...  reverting to Patch 0 for SUM10_SP09 of 19 March solves it.

I found a workaround.

Open a jump_config.txt file contained in the \usr\sap\SUM\sdt\param directory

Edit the last parameter value (/sapstartsrv/httpsconnection) from true to false and execute the step again.

Regards.

Hello

This is not an error at all, this is a normal behavior... as stated in the message the solution is in the SUM guide !

Find here under the procedure form installation guide...

Best regards

5.3Verifying Certificates

Procedure to avoid problems with the check for SSL certificates during the update process, you need to ensure the certificates are trusted. Perform this procedure right after you have downloaded and unpacked the SUM package, but before starting the tool. If you have not fulfilled this prerequisite and you encounter a problem in the above mentioned dialog, you can still use the same procedure to fix the problem.

Export the certificate

sapgenpse export_own_cert -v -p <DRIVE>:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance_name>\sec\SAPSSLS.pse -o <DRIVE>:\<path to SUM directory>\SUM\<certificate_filename>.crt

import the certificate to the cacerts list used by SUM

cd <DRIVE>:\<path to SUM directory>\SUM\jvm\jre\bin.

.\keytool -importcert -noprompt -alias XYZ -trustcacerts -file <DRIVE>:\<path to SUM directory>\SUM\<certificate_filename>.crt -keystore <DRIVE>:\<path to SUM directory>\SUM\jvm\jre\lib\security\cacerts -storepass changeit

Hello Jacob,

You're welcome, I was quite suspicious with so many answers pushing for an inappropriate solution.

It's wired to see an obvious RTFM syndrome striking that strong !

Best regards...

Thanks Yves KERVADEC, this solved my problem too.

thanks for sharing - although sometimes I prefer some of the solutions proposed above, as this is cumbersome to start up SUM. Especially on sandbox/test systems.

Thanks for the information, but having a problem finding the "SUM guide".  Can you help.

I have been verifying the certificate and worked up until I activated https on the system.

The work around worked for me..

I had found this section in the SUM tool guide and had added the SSL certificate for my primary application server instance to the cacerts list in the SUM tool. No problem with that. My issue is that it appears to also want the SSL certificate for the SCS instance (this is for a Java-only system). There isn't any SSL PSE for the SCS instance as far as I can see, so what do you do for that? The only option I see is to use the work around that was disclosed earlier.

Thanks,

Dave

Fabio,

If you are using the same version I am which is Patch 7, I suggest you downloaded the latest Patch 8.

I just downloaded it and do not get the error anymore
