Poll: Your experience with SRM index tables (note 856803)

Dear all,

note 856803 describes how to improve the display of large documents by implementing two additional index tables. Our organization started with SRM 2 and is on 7.02 by now. I am relatively new to our company and this topic didn't seem to be a matter for all the years. Note 1760936 describes how to check if those tables are activated. They are not.

Before I investigate further or suggest this performance improvement I would like to ask you about your experiences with those two index tables. Please feel free to write

  • if the performance gain is noticeable
  • about the maintenance efforts
  • about the time the activation took
  • if the system load causes the DB admin to riot
  • or any other interesting topics.

Currently we have no bottleneck in system performance. But according to the Deming circle (Plan-do-check-act) it is never too late for continuous improvements.

kind regards

José

Dear José,

did you finally activate index tables as described in note 856803?

We plan to do so shortly.

Is there an noticeable improvement in performance?

Thanks and BR,

Henning

Dear Hennig,

since I did not get any responses to this topic I quit keeping track of it, sorry.

One thing I learned while investigating is that the index tables get updated even though we didn't activate them. This seems rather strange.

regards

José
