Hi,
We had a strange issue over the past 4 days applying patches -
to our Production SCM/APO on iseries system - I am trying to find an explanation so it don't happen again -
The Issue: The support packages were
applying to production but running very slow – hours longer than normal.
The resolution: We created a new IFS directory
on the development/test system.
How resolution was discovered: Copied a
file on the IFS on the production system via Ops Navigator in seconds – Tried coping same file
to IFS on the test system without success. As soon as I created a new directory under the
IFS the whole system cleared up.
The production transport system is an IFS link to the Developement/test IFS system.
Object link = /usr/sap/trans
Content link = /QFileSvr.400/APODEV/sapmnt/trans
I thought this was strictly a SAP issue and I did not think
this was a network issue or an IBM issue while the support packages were being
applied. The file I was loaded to resolve the problem was a copy of latest R3trans but never needed it.
SAP Version - SAP_BASIS 701 - SAP SCM 7.0
We were far behind on patches SP 6 going to SP14 - However It was slow if I applied 1 patch or six - Took 11 hours to apply all in Q&A
OS - V7R1
I restarted my laptop several times over the last 4 days so
it was not isolated to my computer – I did use Terminal Server if at all
possible to get caught up there?
Any idea's for an explanation would be appreciated.
Regards,
Brian
Hi Brian
1. Is this H/w resources are low?
2. Is it having latest version kernel?
3. If possible restart the system (IPL) and then retry same phase
4. Are you using the SUM?
5. If possible delete the sql package and then try
