Hi All

I was thinking to install the PI at my laptop (32 bit,C2D,160GB) but someone told me that PI will install only with 64 bit system.

Now I am confusing with 64 bit. is it related to OS or related to Hardware?

could be PI install at my laptop with current configuration.

Hi

You will need both hardware & OS that runs on 64bits architecture... but Core2Duo is 64bits...

In a full PI (ABAP + Java) you'll need around 100-130 Gb

~10 Gb OS

~20 Gb swap

~20 Gb binaries

~80 Gb Database

I'm afraid problem will be more on the memory side, I'm not sure it can run with a machine with less than 6Gb.

6 GB memory is not issue for me. it may be increase till to 8 gb at my laptop. But the issue is CPU and Motherboard. Someone told me that without these on 64 bit . PI installation is impossible.

I can't speak to PI being 64 bit only, but as for the other factors you need the following:

1. 64 bit CPU, single/dual/quad cores doesn't matter as long as it understands 64 bit instruction sets.

2. OS must also be 64 bit supported, and typically can only be installed if the CPU is 64 bit comp.

If you have a 64 bit CPU and running an OS as 32 bit; then you are more than likely not going to be able to install a 64 bit piece of software successfully/easily.

I'm pretty sure 7.11 PI is 32 bit; not sure about 7.3/7.31/7.4 PO though.
