Hey all

i was going through system copy guides and was struck with a huge doubt.what if i want to upgrade from windows 2003 to windows 2008 and also oracle 10 to 11g ,which method is feasable.?

Hi

In this case better you can do it in the test environment first, based on the down time calculation you can carry out the same in production system. 

As per my experience you can do the fresh installation of Windows 2008 with Oracle 11g (Reformat the system with new installation of Windows 2008).


1. Exiting server take full backup of OS /DB

2. Do the system copy by using the SWPM Source system(Export)

3. Install the new OS & DB

4. System copy on target system (Import) by using SWPM

hello,i went through the documents and i think i got everything.but what if i choose different hardware.??

Hi

Same steps only the difference are

  Step 1 & 2 you will do it in the old H/W,

  Step 3 & 4 on new H/W.
