HI.
I am not sure about the Archive Server.( i heard about Archive Link but not the Server)
If its archive Link, you can create content Repositories with the same in OAC0 and DCADMIN after Content Server Installation.
For DMS in seperate Server,
You will need Content Server 6.40 (Latest Version).
SAP INstallation Master.
jdk 1.7 (Since SAP installation Master Requires jre environment)
MaxDB 7.6 (above 7.6 are available in market place but they are not officially released with the Content Server6.4)
Its just a straight forward procedure.
Download the DVD imsages for content Server, MaxDB and SAP Installation master from Market Place.
Install Your Database (MaxDB)and create an Instance.
Content Server is installed via SAP Installation Master or SMWP.
Once you are ready with your Database, Follow the link
http://sapnw-professional.blogspot.in/2013/10/sap-document-management-system-dms.html
after the successful installation, you may start configuring the Content Repository in OAC0 tcode and CSADMIN tcode.
Cheers!
Hi Mukesh,
DMS is having lot of user interfaces
1) DMS - R/3 gui
2) Easy DMS
3) PLM 7 - WEBUI - DMS (using NWBC)
For all the 3, the foundation remains the first one which comes as a part of ECC 6 with storage of contents to SAP Database.
Only thing we need to do is, configure and start using it and if we need a separate content server for storage, then install and configure that also.
Which one are you looking for?
Regards,
Ravi
Hi Mukesh,
actually meant installation of content server for DMS. Always content servers are installed separately and then linked to ECC-DMS.
Which product your enterprise has bought?
SAP Business suite or Business by Design or Business one
Which version of SAP have you installed?
ECC 6.0 EHP3 or EHP4...EHP7

Ravi
Hi Ravi ,
I don't think that Sebin Chacko is taking about Content Server installation go through link provided .
http://sapnw-professional.blogspot.in/2013/10/sap-document-management-system-dms.html
We have not yet bought any product .
We are using ECC 6.0 .
We want to archive files and maintain its version and attribute info in DMS ECC 6.0 .
As per my POC it is possible through DMS ? How that is my question ?
Regards,
Mukesh
Hi Mukesh,
DMS actually works like this...
1) Document type with some configurations are done.
2) If required, content servers are installed & linked to DMS
3) Document info record(DIR) is created and originals(attachment) pertaining to the DIR is attached
4) Original is linked to content server before saving the DIR
5) If required, different versions are created.
Is this the one you are looking for?
As far as my knowledge, in DMS, the DIR's which are marked for deletion can be archived.
Regards,
Ravi
Hi Ravi ,
1) Document type with some configurations are done.
What are the configuration steps we need to do .
3) Document info record(DIR) is created .
How do we create DIR .
As far as my knowledge, in DMS, the DIR's which are marked for deletion can be archived.
FYI : Want to let you know that it is not necessary if we want we can archive all originals(attachment) .
Regards,
Mukesh
Hi Mukesh,
Sorry for the late response.Just been busy for a while.
i see you got confused a bit. though, i am glad you have found the answer.
Reagrding Document Type configuration
Goto Tcode DC10
or SPRO->Cross Applications Components->Document Management -> Control Data
under that you may find all the transactions required for configuring a document type.
Business Object is: DRAW. (goto SWO1 and search for DRAW for more details)
table : DRAW
DIR is nothing but the document Info Record, which acts as primary key for each document.
Creating a Document Type is also a simple task
<Please do not forget to configure the number ranges ,if required, before configuring the Doc Type>
Once you done with your Document Type Configuration, you can start use T Codes, CV01N, CV02N for craeting and editing documents.
DIR is a combination of what you see in the initial screen of CV01N
-Document Type
-Document number
-Document part
-Documet Version
Cheers!
