Hi!
I need a little help. we are after a solution manager upgrade for 7.1
We are trying to set the incident management for Webui. But when we
try to create a new incident, the configuration item droplist is empty.
Can we generate automatically these items, or we have to do some
customizing? On the other hand, shall we define a product category
as well?

Please run SOLMAN_SETUP steps intial,Basic Configuration and Managed System setup. Then you need run through the self guided procedure for ITSM in SOLMAN_SETUp ...
THen you will be able to use the Incident management.

The configuration Items belong to ALM_ROOT category and below is the hierarchy that need to be created
ALM Application Infrastructure Materials
|-- ALM_ROOT Root Category
|-- ALM_OBJ Objects
|-- ALM_OBJ_7001 LMBD Objects
|-- ALM_OBJ_7002 CMDB Objects
|-- ALM_OBJ_7003 Database (LMDB)
|-- ALM_OBJ_7004 Host (LMDB)
This can be created in the following activity in solman_setup;

Now you can create a Configuration Items for LMDB and CMDB entries. A reference object is a product or an installation for which a service or change is requested.
1) For LMDB objects: Transaction code IB_GEN is used to create Configuration Items.
2) For CMDB objects: Report AI_CRM_IBASE_CMDB_GENERATE_71 is used to create Configuration Items
