Hi All,
On our ECC 6.0 system, the saposcol is running at OS Level. However when the same is checked through GUI level using ST06, it says SAPOSCOL not running.
We have even tried restarting the system by clearing all the shared memory but no luck.
We use db2 9.7 database and AIX 7.1. we have a single LPAR and multiple WPARS resting on this single LPAR. We have noticed that the other systems resting on all other WPARS, SAPOSCOL is running at OS and is reflected at GUI level.
Could you please advise.
Output from OS level:
./saposcol -s

Hello Soumya,
Pleas make sure : the SAPOSCOL is the latest one
The operating system collector SAPOsCol is a stand-alone program that runs in the operating system background. It runs independently of
SAPinstances exactly once per host.Saposcol is not Unicode-dependent, so it makes no difference to download it from Unicode or Non-unicode
directory on Service Market Place. The highest available saposcol version can always be used backwards.
SAPOSCOL should always be started with root permissions, to be able to collect all the OS statistics (notes #19227 and #726094).

I would like to suggest to check the SAPOSCOL logfile : dev_coll if it is free from errors:

Dear Soumya,
Please check default background jobs are running or not.
SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFORMANCE.
And also check time zone and correct it for OS and SAP level...
Thanks & Regards,

Hi,
SAPHOSTAGENT is installed and we are on the latest patch level.
However now SAPOSCOL is being reflected at GUI level and also now the snapshot details are available in ST06. But if i try checking the history details, it displays nothing except for the blank fields.
The related jobs such as SAP_PERFMONITOR and all are running on regular basis.
Any inputs on why the history data not being available ?
Thanks,
Soumya

Hi Soumya,
Try these..
1. First stop the Saposcol from Os level
2. Kill the <pid> of the oscol if it is runnning
3. go to the path "/usr/sap/tmp"
4. rename the file "coll.put" file to "coll.old" (You can do when the system is online)
5. Now start the Saposcol
Hope it will resolve your issue.. Give me points if it helps you

Please provide output of ipcs -ma | grep 4dbe command.

As another quick test do the following: in SM69 define external command ipcs and start it with -am parameter. Can you see saposcol shared segment in output? Also try to check dev_w* log file for additional info. If possible please attach screenshot with error and explain a bit more landscape that has been deployed on this LPAR.
Hi
Is the kernel version 7.20 ?
