Connect a portal as a client to SAP Mobile Documents

Hello,

we have set-up an installation for SAP Mobile Documents (on premise) to enable user-access for documents via mobile devices. Furthermore our users can access in the office a central portal (SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3) via their desktop browsers.

Users have now asked us, whether they can also access their documents via the central portal. Due to technical limitations of our central portal installation, we cannot connect the source repositories with the central portal. Our approach is to connect the central portal as a “client” to consume the exposed data from SAP Mobile Documents.

Unfortunately we haven’t found any helpful information, how we can integrate exposed data from SAP Mobile Documents into our central portal. Any ideas?

Best regards

Mario

Hi Mario,

sorry for the late answer, I just saw your question.

One approach could be to intergrate Mobile Documents to your portal by using an iView that refers to the Mobile Documents web client: https://<mobiledocs-server>/mcm/browser

You can setup SSO with logon tickets, so that users don't have to logon twice.

You also could use native KM UIs like the documents iView and integrate it to your central portal with a federated portal network. The Mobile Documents portal server would be the producer and the central portal the consumer.

Another approach would be to move the actual Mobile Docs repositories to your central portal system. The Mobile Docs server is able to integrate KM repositories on remote KM servers with SSO (Assertion Ticket).

The simplest solution of course is 1). 2) and 3) require that at least the two portal servers can communicate and have a trust relationship (but that is quite easy to set up).

Hope this helps!

regards, Karsten
