My Sybase IQ server :  AIX 5.3 , Sybase IQ 12.7 , no multiplex with full backup.

Now I  want to resotre the backup data to a server: Linux(RHEL 5.5), Sybase IQ 15.2.

This can be achieved?  If can ,how to do it ?

Thanks!

It is not possible to restore backup from AIX to Linux RHEL 5.5 since they are on different endian;

AIX is Big-endian and Linux is Little-endian !!

You can check IQ 15.4 installation guide for details -http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.infocenter.dc10083.1540/doc/html/san1282692533673...

You will need to consider to use migration way to solve it !!

Please check migration note on IQ 15.2 installation guide for details -http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.infocenter.dc10083.1520/html/iqicglin/BGGEIGED.ht...

HTH ! Thanks !!

That is right, IQ backup/restore is not possible in this scenario.

You are also upgrading between major releases, which is not just a simple 'Alter Database Upgrade'.

The best way to achieve this would be extract all your data to flat files, extract the ddl's , build a new IQ 15.x server , create your new tables and load the tables using load table command.

Please be adviced that you should try and migrate and go to IQ 15.4 as IQ 15.2 will be EOL'ed Jul 31, 2014. Details are in

You need to follow instructions for moving data between 2 different endian formats, For complete instructions for moving data import and export see:

Thanks
