Hi Experts,

Our Development system hangs frequently as its a old hardware hence performance is so poor.

However, We have decided to build a new   SAP DEVELOPMENT System on NEW HARDWARE MACHINE

( Current Versions: SAP ECC6.0 SR2 , WINDOWS 2003 SERVER  64 BIT , ORACLE 10 G.)

WE have the above configurations on QUA  and PRD.

We have taken the Offline Backup of our DEV system last night.

Can Anybody  please help me how to develop new SAP DEV system   with offline backup .

whats the best method, as i have many queries that which would be better and fast .

As of now our new hardware is ready with 64 bit windows 2003 server  standard edition.

Now do i need to install SAP and then restore backup .

(or) Can we do new  installation with backup .

Please  suggest me with best  possible ways.

Regards

Shafeeq

Hello

Install a new development system on the new hardware.

Restore the backup taken from the previous system.

Recreate the OPS$ users (if required).

Apply license and reconfigure the TMS.

Hi Shafeeq,

First you start the installation process on your New Dev box as follows:

1. Install Java (JDK) and set the env variables

2. Maintain IP address and Host name details in "/etc/hosts"

3. Set the Virtual memory (Swap) min 20 GB for 64 bit systems. check in your Quality box if         needed

4. Ensure you have all required Sap S/w (ECC 6.0)

5. Install the Oracle 10g first

6. Install the Oracle patch if it is 10.2.0.1

7. Run the Installation Master to start the actual installation

Note: Stop the Installation process at "Import Abap" phase to restore the Backup.

Once you stopped the process, then follow the below steps

1. Copy the all your Backup files in "/oracle/SID/sapbackup" location

2. Run the Brtools in Command prompt

3. Type command "brrestore -m full -b abcdefgh.afd -d disk" to start the Restoration

4. You might need "-k yes" for compression in addition.

here abcdefgh.afd ---

abcdefgh means "some name that exist after the completion of offline backup"

.afd means "extension of offline backup"

Try this process and let us know if you have any queries. Give me points if it helps  you

Thanks

Dear Shafeeq,

Kindly look into "Backup/Restore offline" through SWPM. Through this method you can build new system using the old BR backup.
