Printing Export Documents in SAP SD

Do we need to implement SAP's Foreign Trade / Customs application (FT) to print export documents in SAP? Can the requirements be met completely by using standard output determination functionality?

Also, is there any output for Checklist document either at delivery or at invoice level?

Hi,

You can also use Output functionality to create Export document and these can be submitted manually to customs

But these involves a lot of manual intervention and recently US government declared that Manual export declaration is not more accepted and hence GTS and Foreign trade functionality have picked up significance

Using Foreign Trade- Customer document will be automatically sent from SAP ( feeder system) to customs shipment which is an Electronic documentation

That is the use of doing it from Foreign trade

This functionality is more developed in GTS than Foreign trade

Santosh, Thanks for the response.

If the need for going to Foreign Trade or GTS is for Electronic documentation, we can do the same using output determination with EDI.
As far as printing and communication is concerned, does Foreign trade module provide any additional functionality?

Hi ,

Electronic documents will be created once you execute the Transaction

For example, if you create a sales order, an document is created in GTS automatically which can be sent to downstream system through RFC

If you are not using GTS and you can print customs document through Outbound Delivery and sent to customs authority manually
, provided if this process is accepted
