ST03 vs STAD(STA?)

Former Member

Hello

I do not have performance results from few mins ago in transaction ST03. As far as I remember it is in transaction STAD where current records are filled and periodacally written in ST03.

How could I know what causes long response times from a few mins ago. What is characteristic of STA transaction compared to the other ?

Thank you in advance

Jan

Hello Jan,

About ST03:The workload monitor reads the workload statistics from the
workloadcollector database. Various collectors must run at regular time
intervals so that this database always contains current data.

The background job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR starts the program
RSCOLL00 and this program checks the TCOLL table for program which needs
to be started.
Workload collector program starting from system release 7.00 the
background job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR should always be scheduled
in client 000  and the #System Time Zone# which is maintained in the
transaction STZAC in client 000 should be exactly the same as the OS
time zone setting.

Please check:

#926290 - SWNCCOLL: SAP workload NW collector collects no data
#1888095 - ST03/ST03N gets popup "No system load data available"
#16083 - Standard jobs, reorganization jobs
#1158293 - ST03N: Display TOTAL data for current day, week and month

The ST03 is average statistics.

IF you want to check the response time of a specific user operation, you should use the STAD.

The STAD is created by the Netweaver kernel and every transaction, job or step is reported in the STAD with its specific response time.

The ST03 you only will see summary information that are calculated as average mode.

Hello Jan,

In ST03N , if you want to see data in last few hors ,then you can navigate as below

ST03N-> Expert mode-> Detailed analysis ->Last Minute's load

Here you can check for individual application server or total (for all server)

double click on the sever you want to analyze.

In the right part of the screen , you can select the interval you want to check and click on green tick

Workload overview :

In left part (bottom part- analysis view) -> double click on workload overview

Here you can see response time and part of response time of different work processes

You will get the overall idea on the system performance here

Time Profile:

Double click on Time profile , you can see the load for the interval you selected

You can select "task type" in tab "times" to analyze load for different work process (e.g.: dialog)

You can double click on particular row to see what all transaction ran during that period and check response times for the same

Transaction Profile:

Double click on "transaction profile-> standard" ,this will give you overview of reports or transactions and the load caused by it.

This will help you to analyze the load or long running transaction information in last few hours/minutes

STAD :

You can also analyze STAD records in past few hours from ST03N

Detailed Analysis-> Business transaction analysis

This will give you stad records for the length of time you have selected

Hope this helps
