Hi guys,
we want to upgrade our PI System from 7.10 to 7.40 SP 6 in the next monts keeping the dual stack system. Now I have two questions:
1. Can you please tell me some features especially according to message mapping functions and adapter configuration?
2. What do you think about keeping the dual stack? Is it a secure concept for the next years or do you think java-only is the next step. How will SAP support dual stack the next years?
Thanks a lot already for your answers.
Best regards
Martin
Hi Martin,
1) for features, please check the release notes for SAP NW 7.4.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw74/helpdata/en/8a/20f67a23c547a694c595c3195c1b0f/frameset.htm
2) Regarding single stack vs. dual-stack:
Also please refer to this link:
Dual-stack SAP NetWeaver PI systems remain supported, also in releases higher than SAP NetWeaver 7.31. Starting with SAP NetWeaver 7.3, there is additional Java-only offering for main process integration capabilities (AEX)

Hi Martin,
Features of PI 7.4 has been listed here in this thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3433516
SAP might withdraw support from DUAL stack in future. Single stack paves the way to use of SAP PI in NON SAP landscape. This increases marketing scope of the product.

You can make use of IDOC_AAE/SOAP for proxy for converting your interfaces to Integrated configuration.
New component based alerting..
Many things you can find the list - http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/Features+of+PI+7.31

SAP says that it contunie to support dual stack for the new few yrs along with single stack but may be considering the adavantages may be you should plan to move to java stack.
