Characters in Text field cause PO fail in ECC

Good day

We are using the classic scenario, the user will type in text in SRM on the SC or the RFx which is then mapped to ECC to be added onto the PO at the point of PO create. When the XML reaches ECC, the PO fails and the failure shows in SXMB_MONI with the below error:

We have identified a number of characters that cause the issue such as below but there are many more. Is there a way changing config or notes to allow these characters into ECC on the PO. Why won't the system allow these characters plus a whole lot of others?

Can you try to change the file encoding to correct UTF so that PI file adapter is picking the file and able to see same ..Also You might have  to compare the Language packs installed in PI with SAP ECC system. Go to SMLT transaction (in PI as well as in SAP ECC) and ensure all the Languages installed in SAP PI are same with SAP ECC. If SAP PI can understand the data (of that specific Language), then SAP ECC also should

note 1130965, changing the character set in the infopackage to 1100.

Hello Wesley,

I would suggest you to raise a CSN ticket to SAP to get a standard fix.

I think that a workaround would do till you get a standard fix.

Class: /SAPSRM/CL_CH_SOA_DO_PO_ITEM

Methos: MAP_LONGTEXT

You can create an internal enhancement for the time being and remove/replace the symbols which are creating issues.

I am not sure but BAdi BBP_LONGTEXT_BADI may also help.

Can you please mention the details about SRM version and SP?
