Do I need VLDB option to create and use RLV dbspace?

Hi,

I'd a simplex IQ 16.0 SP1 database and would like to configure RLV, one of the requirements is to create a RVL dbspace.  I do not have the VLDB option.  Last time I tested creating more that 1 user dbspace the system got locked after 30 days (evaluation period) and the only way to restart the server was to request from Sybase a temporary VLDB option to move the data out of the second dbspace and drop taht dbspace (a lot of time consuming and resouces from Sybase and us).

DO I will experience the same problem if I create a RLV dbspace?  Do I need the VLDB option to create a RLV dbspace?

There is bug in IQ where the RLV dbspace will be counted as a second dbspace requiring the VLDB license. Bug number 738873 . This is fixed in SP02. Hence I would advice you to install IQ 16 SP 03 the latest released service pack and then test the RLV feature.
