Dear all,
While creating Customer Master, when is the need to define a new account group? What could be the scenario?
Can I not use the existing ones in the system? What is the implication if I do not create new account groups?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Adiraj,
You have different screens in Customer Master and some of the fields are Mandetory while others are optional, some are visible and some are hidden. All these are controlled by Account Group. In Customer Master Screens and fields are controlled by account group. You can also have One-time customer. Using account group you can set No Range (Internal / External etc).
Based on your requirement you create your own account group.
Hope this clarifies
Reward if it helps

Hi,
It is the account groups that control the customer master record.
We can have whatever fields and screens for the required customer master record.
We can create new account group in OBD2. There we have option of choosing the required fields and screens. The way how we maintain fields gets reflected into the customer master record from the account group.

It will be recommended to use an existing account group, if it serves the purpose. Incase you require to have sold to party as external number range & internal number range, inthat case you can use one of the existing Account group & create another wrt Standard Account Group. Some more information on account Group is as under:
<b>2.1.1 Account Group</b>

The groups indicated below are a few examples. There are many groups in Standard SAP & if we require additional Group, it can be copied from appropriate group & maintained.
Group Name

0002 Goods recipient
0003 Payer
0004 Bill-to party
0005 Prospective customer
0006 Competitor
Select Sold-to-party  go to Details  Double Click on General data / Company code data / Sales data. It will take to next screen which details Tab Pages of General data / Company code data / Sales data. Double Click on Tab Page for example: Address, Control, Marketing & so on. Here you can maintain whether the field is to be Suppress, Req. Entry, Opt. entry or Display
Hope this helps you.
