Hi Kishore,
SAP MAP is composed of the following components:
Strategic Planning
Merchandise Planning
Assortment Planning
Slow Seller Management
Location Planning
Release Workbench
The Release Workbench allows you to monitor planning data and master data created during planning and transfer of this data to operative applications.
The following diagram represents the merchandise and assortment planning architecture.
Cubes can be created accroding to the requriement. All the planning is based upon BI-IP and BPS.
Thanks and Regards,
Ramesh D

Hi Kishore,
Yes, you are right. The above are the different types of planning available in our Retail landscape.
All the above can be derived using MAP.
Now MAP has a new avatar, the new BI content can provide you SAP Retail Merchandise Planning, which covers functional as well as process enhancements. From a functional perspective, all planning functions have moved from the Excel table into the ribbon of SAP Business Objects Analysis, Edition for Microsoft Office, which allows users to better navigate between the planning functions without losing focus on the planning table. Additionally, the franchise concept has been corrected in order to guarantee a smooth integration with the SAP Retail system. From a process perspective, the solution has been enhanced for the following processes: Financial Channel Plan going down to division and department level, bottom-up planning processes for all planning scenarios, and integration of OTB and markdown budget for Slow Seller Management.

Hi Kishor,
My high level understanding of SAP IS-Retail is:
SAP brought in Planning via BI content in the ECC 6 and above.
My understanding layman understanding that might help you:
1. SAP Merchandise and assortment planning
Lot of details already given by Ramesh D.
2. SAP Retail Planning
I believe 2 type exist, Push and Pull planning. I might be bit off in understanding this type of Planning.
3. OAPC planning (Operational assortment planning and control)
This planning is used if you plan Store wise. Exmaple is you have defined multiple stores and each store control there Safety stock and and ordering process.
4. OTB planning (Open to Buy)
This planning is used when Corporate team decides how much to buy based on budget and target.
5. SOP planning (Sales and operational planning)
This type of planning is used when a sales team forecast and operations team capacity to meet the forecast differ and the company needs to take a collaborative approach.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
MJ
