Product interchangeability does not work with supersession chain of 3 products

Good morning everyone,

We are having trouble with the configuration of a supersession chain containing 3 products in product interchangeability groups, with the following structure: A -> B -> C. We need to use it in cases where there is low or no stock of the predecessor (product A), and available stock of the successors (products B and C), which need to generate distribution receipts.

The interchangeability works perfectly when we apply it to 2 products (A -> B). It transfers the demand of the predecessor product (which is in stockout) to the successor, and generates distribution receipts for the successor. We do this by first executing a heuristic planning run for the predecessor in the SNP-HEUR planning book. We then execute another heuristic planning run for the successor in the 9ASNP_PS planning book, and finally a Deployment run for the successor in the SNP-HEUR planning book. The attributes we have in their interchangeability group are always: Direction:Forward; Use-up strategy: Yes. We use the Heuristics Engine in SNP, with SCM version 5.10.

However, when we configure a supersession chain group containing 2 items: A -> B and B -> C, the planning runs never take into consideration the middle successor product (product B), and only generates receipts for product C, even though there is available stock of both successors. We have tried several combinations of attribute characteristics, but have failed to make it work. Would this have something to do with our SCM version? Or could this functionality not be available for a supersession chain?

Thank you for your help,

María Fernanda Spiritto
