Hi there,
Is there anybody out there who by chance uses the 3rd party software Commvault
to manage their backups??
I am trying to run a system refresh from PRD to QA. By a series of trials and errors
I'm so close to finding a solution to do this.
I run the brrestore command to restore the last offline backup from PRD to QA.
PRD = PIP and QA = PIQ
It seems to find all the data files and then the following error is displayed:
iPath=[/oracle/PIP/sapdata1/sr3_7/sr3.data7] qPath=[/oracle/PIP/sapdata1/sr3_7/sr3.data7] pPath=[/oracle/PIP/sapdata1/sr3_7/sr3.data7]
iPath=[/oracle/PIQ/sapdata1/sr3_7] qPath=[/oracle/PIQ/sapdata1/sr3_7] pPath=[/oracle/PIQ/sapdata1/sr3_7]
Out of place restores to different destination directories is not supported....
Now this is a new data file which only exists on PRD. I have tried manually
creating the directory/file on QA to see if that makes a difference but it
has no effect.
Here's hoping
Thanks
Andy
Hi Andy,
Did you try restore thru CommVault console? If yes, please share restore config screenshot. DB restore thru CommVault console is pretty straight forward paying little attention to the file paths.

You might want to read the friendly CommVault manual.
http://documentation.commvault.com/hds/release_9_0_0/books_online_1/english_us/products/sap_oracle/r...
All restore levels provide the facility to restore data to a different directory on the client computer from which the data originated; this is referred to as an out-of-place restore to a different path/destination. You can also restore data to a different client computer in the CommCell using the same path/destination.
But it seems you cannot have both (computer and path) different.
hope this helps
