MSCS installation and database availability

Hello Gurus,

We need to implemtent PI 7 on MSCS environment. I want to know whether the High Availability secures out database instance as well apart from the CI.

If our database crashes than would we be able to take the advantage of High Availabitiy MSCS implementation on a Single Cluster implementation?

Hi,

MSCS does "only" secure you against hardware failure.

As a MSCS installation normally consist of two physical servers, the cluster environment does secure you if the one physical server fails, the application secured by the MSCS setup, will switch over to the other server, and continue run there.

Depending of the application this can take seconds or minutes...

But again the MSCS does not secure you for application errors (database crash, or so).
