Hi All,
I exported a ECC ehp5 system using SWPM 1.0 SP4 for NW 7.0 systems.
I'm now doing the import using the same tool, I get to the point where SWPM asks for the Oracle client cd.
Some reason it wants 11.2, yet Oracle 10 is installed on the system.
Where does SWPM find this info? From the Kernel CD?
What would happen if I used Oracle client 11 on a Oracle 10 DB?
Couple of things if people ever come accross the same issue.
If you are using oracle 10g and SWPM is asking for 11g, likely you forgot to change the option in the setup screen. Highligthed in yellow is a drop down box to choose your settings. It defaults to 11, hence why I didn't pick it up.
Also, if you try and move forward with a 10g DB and oracale 11G client, 2 parameters get added to the initora that are only supported in 11g and not 10g. This will cause SWPM to cancel.
The 2 parameters

audit_file_dest
My findings.

Nothing will happen if you Oracle 11G instant client on a system running with 10G.
The newer versions of SAP kernels are compiled to run with Oracle 11G instant clients.

Hi Joshua,
Give the input and in the next screen , it will show which files are going to be extracted.
Unchecked the extraction option and continue with the installation.
Or you can edit the LABEL.ASC file and it will accept the oracle client dvd.
