Hi SAP guruz!
I am trying to set up a proxy connection between SAP BI (Vr7.0 SPS 09) and SAP XI (3.0 SPS 19). for this i am planning to follow the How to document (How to Integrate XI and BI in SAP NetWeaver 2004s.pdf) as given by SAP.
I am new to the aspect of proxy connections... hence i am stuck at the very first step.
In the pre-requisite section of the doc says
1. The BW is integrated to the XI landscape
2. Create a software component in the Software Landscape Directory.
Can any one please tell me the steps for doing this, the tcodes and all , and how to check for the connections?
Looking forward to hearing from you, as I read a lot of matter from SDN forums and help.sap.com sites, but cudnt figure out what all i have to for this...
Thanks,
Sush
sushmita,
frist create connection between XI and BW.create TS and BS of BW then import correspoding BASIS SWCV of BW.
goto sproxy t/c of bw if you get no SLD connection then follow accoding to blog
to create RFC for connecting both.

Thanks Sreeram !!
But i am kind of new to BI terminologies. Can you explain a bit more in detail what you mean by
" frist create connection between XI and BW.create TS and BS of BW then import correspoding BASIS SWCV of BW" ...
Can you also explain How do we do these steps?.. Such as which tcodes and all??
Thanks again,
Sushmita
Thanks so much Jai!
You have identified the problem correctly, that is i am indeed getting the 'No connection to Integration Server, only generic data visible' error in tcode sproxy.
But I dont know how to establish the connection with XI, and our basis person also doesnt know. He is asking me to work on it!! so u can understand my situation here.
Also, i tried to follow the Weblog as forwraded by Satish in this forum thread, but when i create the RFC and SLD connections in SM59, with the inputs as mentioned in the blog, and try the "test connection" it gives error 'Error 404: Not found"!!
In SLDCHECK, i am getting the error: Connection to SLD doesnt work. Can you please tell me how to set up the SLD for BI?? I mean, the steps and the Tcodes?
Thanks so much!
Sushmita
Hi sushmita,
The thing is that if your basis person know the details regarding the R3s connection with SAP XI then those steps are the same as that wtih BI.
1. (SM59) RFC Connection for both sides
2. Create RFC Connection for both XI & PI then only test the connection.(SLDCHECK)
3. Import BI system into SAP XI Landscape
Then check for the SProxy. And check what error or message is coming up.

Hi Sushmita,
My suggestion is read How to guides.
There is an excellent document on XI and BW intergration through Proxy mechanism.
Its a step by step guide.
If u are unable to find pls let me know.
Thanks,
venu

Hi Venu
as i said in the post, I already have the 'How to ...' document.
but the problem is, i am stuck in the first step...
I dont know how to fulfil the pre-requisites given in the document...viz. how the BW is integrated to the XI landscape and how to Create a software component in the Software Landscape Directory? Can u help me with that please?
Thanks,
Sush
Das,
Just create a new SWC and assign the technical system and business system where you will specify your BI system. It is just like sending a proxy from
R3. Instead you are replacing R3 with BI. Once when you create this import into IR and proceed further.
Please check this weblog for some help:
