Hi All,

We are having space consumption issue on central instance server.  While checking we found one dev_rfc file continously growing under /opt/home/<sidadm>.  File is filled with errors as below

"

**** Trace file opened at 20140124 050613 PST SAP-REL 620,0,375 RFC-VER 3 513143
Error RFCIO_ERROR_MESSAGE in abrfcio.c : 1365

**** Trace file opened at 20140124 050613 PST SAP-REL 620,0,375 RFC-VER 3 513143
<* RfcDispatch [1] : returns 1:RFC_FAILURE"

We are not able to make out where this file is gettign updated from.

As actual dev_rfc trace files are present under work directory. Also they have correct SAP release as per our version 721. Whereas the log shown above gives SAP release as 620.

Could anyone please explain whether this dev_rfc file present at CI only is any specific file different fron dev_rfcXXX files under work and how can we find where is it getting updated from

Thanks

Varun

Hi,

Also parameter you could temporarily enable in your CI if this is where the problem is would give you more details on connections where it is established to an from.

http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABENRFC_NO_DUMP.htm

Change the value of the parameter to 2. As this is dynamically switcheable via RZ11 you can quickly disable again without restart.

  • rfc/signon_error_log = 1
Each time there is a logon error, the short dump "CALL_FUNCTION_SIGNON_REJECTED"is output. The contents of this dump can be analyzed with the short dump analysis transaction (ST22).
  • rfc/signon_error_log = 2
In addition to the ABAP short dump "CALL_FUNCTION_SIGNON_REJECTED", further information about the cause of the problem is logged in the developer trace files (i.e. in dev_w* files).
Each RFC logon attempt is logged in the developer trace files, whether or not the logon was successful. Make sure that this profile value is only used to analyze the RFC logons and then reset. Otherwise the trace files would become very large.

Kind Regards,

Johan

Tx SM59 - RFC - Display Trace

Are these the trace files you see in the above mentioned directory ?

As far as I know the RFC trace files should be present in the work directory.

I would delete those files and then check whether they are getting created or not.
