Don't overwrite the kernel files. Take old kernel file backup in your local drive, then new file copy paste over the same place.

I am wondering from where you are collecting the source system information.

Oracle 7.2.0.3 ?

Kernel for NTAMD64 on AIX ?

Have you ever seen or thought of reading these SAP notes ?

1744209 - SAP Kernel 720 and 721: Versions and Kernel Patch Levels

1713986 - Installation of kernel 721 (EXT)

1780629 - AIX: Minimal OS Requirements for SAP Kernel

1716826 - Usage of the downward compatible kernel 721 (EXT)

They have been there on SMP for quite a while now.

When you ask a question you need to provide the right information.

Secondly you need to do a bit of home work (Search on SMP and on SCN) before you raise a thread here.

Finally you have a history of raising thread and not acknowledging them.

Most of your queries can be answered if you use the search bar on the top right corner of the SCN page.

Take this as a feedback and not as an answer.

Hi

The kernel info you are providing is not from an Aix kernel !

It is a windows kernel

NT 5.2 3790 S x86 MS VC++ 14.00 for NTAMD64

Here are kernel info from an Aix system

kernel release           720
kernel make variant      720_EXT_REL
DBMS client library      OCI_112,

DBSL shared library version   720.00

compiled on              AIX 1 6 00F674C64C00 for rs6000_64

Hi,

From marketplace homepage.

Maintenance of SAP Kernel 7.20 phased out in Q1/2015

To provide our customers information for their strategic maintenance plans, we announce one year in advance that we will stop the maintenance of SAP Kernel 7.20 in Q1/2015. We will then provide one last stack kernel. Corrections will be supplied via SAP Kernel 7.21 after that period.

As described in SAP Note 1728283, SAP Kernel 7.20 can be replaced by SAP Kernel 7.21 everywhere, and SAP Kernel 7.21 can be installed by a simple kernel patch.

Right now, 7.20 is the "standard" kernel, where only corrections are performed. 7.21 is the "innovation" kernel where, in addition, some minor functional enhancements are implemented. Most prominent examples are SAP Personas, ABAP in Eclipse Debugging and SAP HANA Application Accelerator.

In Q1/2015, SAP Kernel 7.21 will become the standard kernel and a new innovation kernel, 7.22, will be offered. You can continue using your current kernel 7.20 after that date, but if an issue occurs with your current kernel, a fix will be only provided for SAP kernel 7.21 and 7.22.

Please refer to not 1728283 there might still be limited support for 721.

Johan

Check the PAM (http://service.sap.com/pam). if it is supported with your setup then you can apply the kernel.
