Is mandatory to use PI to export data from SRM to SRM-MDM Catalog?

Hi Gurus:

Can you tell me if is mandatory to use PI to export data from SRM to SRM-MDM Catalog?

The versions system are SRM 7.02 (Enhancement package 2) and SRM-MDM Catalog 7.1.

Hi, MDM let you import data from diferents system on diferents ways.

One option is PI, but is no mandatory. only if you want a process automatical, the simple way is PI.

But, you have more options to proceess the data. you can run in ECC, a report to extract the data (materials, vendor) this data is exported by FTP to any folder, here, the import manager (automatical-periodic) looking for the field (CSV/xml) and upload the data.

is important take account what do you need update and the frecuency. maybe you could have any problems if you  try to update contracts or price (online - syncronous). in this terms, you need PI to update the data almost inmediatly.

But if you need only maintain the data from catalogs (suppliers, materials, prices) you can upload the data by excel, csv, xml.

remeber that, MDM Catalog 3.0 is diferent to MDM7.0. the catalog was no created to scenaries like centralization to master data, so. in catalog you havent Syndication. i mean, in other words.- PI is mandatory if you have the scenary to maintain the master data centrally, but, in this case, in catalog.  you only need extract the data from ecc and update the catalog.
