Also to add on , for a batch job there is no such thing as an ideal time.  it all depends on the program , volume of data being processed .

However as Basis consultants , it is our endeavor to make them run faster and quicker 🙂

hi Daniel

Regarding the response time , generally it is the dialog response time which matters.

Ideally we check for the same for the same in ST03N / ST03 transaction. From ST03N --> select Total ---> then Workload overview..

you will see the below screen

Please see following link for response times information.

Response Times: Rough Guide (SAP Library - Workload Monitor)

hope it helps

Thanks

Hi ,

Please mark the average response time as well in the table for my correct understanding.

it is highlighted in BLUE

Hi Rishi,

Should I consider only the penil marked one in below for dialog and background response time?

Can't it be username/transaction code wise? how to find

Thanks a ton

Hi Daniel

Yes you can sort it based on transaction and user .  In the ST03 transaction , instead of workload overview , go to Transaction overview and then standard transactions. you can then sort based on dialog transactions / background jobs etc.

Hope you get the same in ST03N.

Thanks

Hi Daniel

Please provide some initial information :

a) Is this a new Batch job ? Or was it running fine earlier and suddenly started running slowly ?

b) Are other jobs / processes in your system running fine.  In SM66 , are you able to see any long running processes.

c) What is your DB and OS version

For the background job which is slow , if you select the job  click on the Job Details in SM37 ---> you will see the process ID of the job.

Using that process ID , you can search in SM66 ---> this will show you what exactly the process is doing .

Based on this - investigation can proceed.

Thanks

Rishi
