Hi gurus,
Last week I cloned an ABAP App server. (AIX 7, Central instance AIX 7, Oracle 11) to join my existing AIX 5 App server.
In sm51 both register with the central instance but ,in SNC Status, the old App server shows a warning, "RFC Connection not possible", and does not permit SAPGUI logon. The problem is I can logon either to the new one or the old one, never both, so the question is if I need to do the load-balancing stuff , a.k.a. logon group, to access both?
Thanks, best regards,
Claudio
Hello
Did you install a new AS server using the sapinst or did you copy the files profiles and other files and then modified them ?
Are the AS's running on the same host ?
If yes what are their system numbers ?

Hello Claudio
If they are running on different servers then it should be fine.
I believe that the issue you are facing right now is that you are unable to access one of the application servers when both the AS' are running.
You are trying to access the AS using the system number and the IP of the server (not using logon groups). In that case could you provide the error message you get from SAP GUI and the latest work process trace file for that specific AS please ?
If possible upload the start and instance profiles of the AS's.

RB

The error I get in SAPGUI is in Spanish, it amounts to "SAPGUI data not allowed"
I will post the trace in another reply, thanks.
Claudio
Thanks Reagan,
In the new server I had this cachesize too small so I could not logon AT ALL, plus I got that "RFC Connection not possible" in SM51/SNC Status. So I expanded it to 10000000 and that cured both problems, but then the existing sapap server took on the same behaviour, that is, RFC not possible and SAPGUI logons denied. So that's why I thought the only way to have two app servers was thru the logon group.
Kind regards,
Claudio
Hello Claudio
I would try to disable them and see if that helps. If not set the parameter according to this SAP note 5470 - Syslog E14: Reorganized Buffer RSCPCCC ... and see whether it helps.
Unfortunately we need to check the work process trace files for more information.
Regards
RB
Hi Claudio,
Can you adjust the SAP parameters on the cloned App server.
Check whether you need SNC enabled is required ?
Secondly plz check the message server entry is correctly maintained and hostname is correctly maintained on the cloned APP server.
Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori

Hi Claudio,
Can you check in SM59 if the RFC destination under Internal connections, contain all the 3 application servers. Do a connection test as well.
Are you getting any error while creating logon group for the application servers using SMLG.

Laxman

Hi Laxman, Deepak, thanks for prompt reply.
Yes , in SM59 the internal connection is fine for both app servers and I can login.
Hostname is OK; I use the SNC screen just for checking if servers are connected but we really are not SNC-enabled.
I didn't want to go through the smlg logon group; can I have both app servers running independently? Or does SAP force you to create the logon group if you have more than one app server?
Thanks, kind regards,
Claudio
Hi Claudio,

Yes you can have 2 or more app servers running independently and outside logon group.
Point to note here is you need to share individual app server details to group of users who will login using the APP server.
Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori
