SAP Startup error after kernel upgrade

Former Member

Hi

I have upgraded to kernel 700 patch 278 but unfortunately after that system is not getting up. Database is

started successfully but R3trans -d is giving following error.

ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error '1005'

ORA-01005: null password given; logon denied

After that to troubleshoot I reverted the kernel upgrade to older version 700 sp 185 then system starts successfully.

Please see attached trans.log

Please suggest in this.

Hello,

Have you applied right kernel (e.g. if system is non-unicode then you should apply non-unicode kernel)?

Thanks,

Sunny

Hi Sunny

Thanks for quick reply, we have uncode system and applied uncode kernel patch only.

How you see unicode ?

This error generally comes when there is codepage mismatch. Can you please attach dev_w0 log files?

Thanks,

Sunny

Yes Sunny,

You were right, it was an Uncode / non unicode issue.

Issue is resolved by replacing non unicode files with unicode files.
