Cache size no more than 50% of physical memory?

Hi,

We're running LiveCache 7.9.08 on Windows 2008 R2.

Our current settings are:

PhysMem                          32GB

CacheMemorySize           1678000

OmsMaxHeapSize           16098400

Data Cache Usage            89%

OMS Data                         87%

HitRate is 99.9% so that is good.

Due to filling level believe we need to increase Cache sizes. I’ve been led to believe total cache should be no more than
50% of physical memory and OMS should be about 75% of total cache. Are these numbers in line with current SAP standards?

If not, what are SAP recommendations?

Thanks,

Heidi

Hello Heidi,

What is the version of your system & the version of the liveCache including the build?

Did you update to the latest release using SAP Note 1955604?

Was your system upgraded from Version 7.0 or 7.01?

What is the perminent data area usage?

Did you check/delete all permanent data in liveCache?

In general, please review the SAP note:

1173395 - FAQ: SAP MaxDB and liveCache configuration

It has the reference to information about the Quick Sizer is available on SAP Service Marketplace: http://service.sap.com/quicksizing.

Hello,

"Did you check/delete all permanent data in liveCache?

We don't know what you are refering to?  Is there a cleanup job we should be running?"

I planned to ask you if you checked with the application team on the deletion of the liveCache data which they don't need any more, created just for tests.

Check if you have f Old Saved Trans Sim, copies of planning versions.

Delete the superfluous TS objects.

In general, please review the SAP note:

Did you already try the Quick Sizer is available on SAP Service Marketplace: http://service.sap.com/quicksizing ?

It's dependent on the OS resources of the liveCache server.

You have currently:

PhysMem                          32GB

CacheMemorySize           1678000    < in pages, *8KB >

OmsMaxHeapSize           16098400   < in KB >

Good to check the available physical memory on the server for the liveCache instance, if you plan to increase CacheMemorySize value.

Similar question with Heidi - is there any sizing tool to help us understand if our current LiveCache reach the SAP recommendation?

Thanks a lot.
