In the food industry (microbiology), we are using what is called as 3-class attribute sampling plans.
The elements in such a plan is:
n=number of samples
m=marginally acceptable limit
M=critical limit
c=number of samples that can fall between m and M
the number of sample units allowed to exceed M is usually set to 0.
Values for the characteristic:
n | c | m | M |
5 | 2 | 1,000 | 10,000 |
Which means, 2 of them are allowed to be between 1,000 and 10,000 cfu/g and the other 3 need to be below 1,000.
Is it possible to set up a sample procedure in SAP that will cover the above, with automatic evaluation?
Not with standard stuff. You would have to create your own FM for this and create the sample valuation rule in config.
QM-->Quality Planning-->Basic Data-->Sample, SPC-->Define Valuation Mode
In here, select Modify Valuation Rule. Create a new valuation rule. I'd suggest you copy rule 70 and copy the FM used for it, "QEBR_MEAN_VALUE_TOLERANCE_INSP".
Modify the FM to your requirements.
This rule is assigned to a new Valuation Mode.
The Valuation Mode is then used in a sampling procedure.
