Hi experts,

is there a possibility to create also alerts for grey-metrics?
Or how to ensure, that a metric did not get in "grey-status" and will not be checked?

Kind regards

Hi Christian,

Metrics are in Grey status because they are not active, have not been calculated yet or the extrator presents problems.

You can check on the Troubleshoting option to figure out what is happening.

Thanks

I know, but how do I know that there is a problem.
Because in the overview the iceon is green if all other values are ok.

Hi Christian,

Have you checked on the Metric Troubleshotting section?

Hello Jose,

this is not my problem.

How to handle grey-metrics I know.

But I would like to know, how to get informed, that a metric is grey.

Because in the overview it is not displayed if an other metric of same group is green or red.

Kind regards

Hi Christian,

I guess you could open system monitoring by selecting the Technical Monitoring tab ==> System Monitoring menu, and selecting a managed system and the expand all the metrics from there and see if any of the metrics are gray.

Herman

Hi Christian,

In every Metric there is a menu with several options and for the Grey ones there is an option to Troubleshooting. See the image:

Hello Jose,

but this guide is not about, how to solve the problem, it is about how to get informed that there is a problem.

Kind regards

Hello Herman,

I know, but this is the way I doing at the moment.

BUt isn't there an email functionality or metric which checks, if there is a grey metric.

Maybe in self-monitoring?

Kind regards

Hi Christian,

As far as my knowledge goes, there no kind of automatic alert you can activate to inform you of a metric that has an issue. So for now it is still part of the daily checks we all have to do.

But I do agree that that would be quite useful, and time saving.

Sorry I could not assist.

Herman.

Hello Herman,

thats also an interesting answer, thank you.

So you ensure on that way, that you check all metrics from time to time manually in monitor?

Kind regards

Hi Christian,

Unfortunately yes, we do check if the metrics are fine by using the manual route and to ensure that they are function correctly by using System Monitoring.

But again, I agree that if there is some alert for metrics it would be very helpful.

Regards,

Herman.

I forgot that I have this thread opened....therefore I opened a new one:

The problem is still not solved. In SelfMon I can see e.g. if an agent is down, but not if a metric is grey.

Use MAI_TOOLS Tcode wherein we have option to identify grey metrics in a single shot.  And also MEASCOUT Tcode helps.

Hello Shiva,

nice information, which is already used from myself.

However, I use this tool to find out, why it is grey....

But I want to have a tool, to get informed if a metric is grey, and don't want to check every days if everything is fine.

However, I wrote a customer metric, which is a function module in solution manager system and there I read the grey-metrics.

Kind regards

Hi Christian,

I totally agree with you that whenever a metric goes into grey it should be automatically notified.  We are working on this with SAP.  So far we found MEASCOUT Tcode is the best option through that we can schedule background job which checks for grey metrics and notify.  However we have couple of issues with that, hence working with SAP.

Regarding the customer metric which you are referring whether it checks continuously and notify in case of grey metrics?

Hello Shiva,

I've created a customer metric which is calling a function module on Solution Manager (so NONE).

In that I read the following 3 tables, to read all grey-metrics.

  • ACCONTEXTDIR
  • ACMETRICDIR
  • mes_db_aggregate

My output back to Solution Manager, are all damaged metrics.

Kind regards

Ok guys, now I have it.

In solman-self monitoring there should be the answer.

I didn't activate it till now but there are a lot of checks regarding technical monitoring.

Thank you to everyone.

Hi Christian,

Maybe SAP note 1774582 can help here?

Kind regards,
