BEX 7 report opens a blank Excel file

Hello,

We have SAP BW system running on NetWeaver 7.3 platform.

Recently we have upgraded  SAP GUI from version 710 to 720 Patch 11.

With SAP GUI 710 , both BEX 3 and BEX 7 reports were functioning perfectly.

After upgrade of SAP GUI to 720 Patch 11, BEX 3 reports still works properly.

However when we run BEX 7 reports, it launches the Excel but nothing happens after that. (blank Excel file)

Note- We thought this might be an issue with SAP GUI 720 version so we have also installed SAP GUI 730 on few workstations but the issue remains same.

Your expert advise to resolve above issue would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Jayesh

Hello Rishi,

I have tried to make changes according note # 1711429, but it didn't solve the issue.

Note # 1880968 is not related to our issue.

Hello Tabrayz,

MS office version is 2010.

Yes, I can see Add-Ins button once excel opens.

Hi Jayesh,

When you click on addin you will have a option Bex Analysis toolbox: open click on that then it will ask you to open query once you click on that you need to select the system in which query is available and login with id password and search for respective query and open it.

Thanks

Hello All,

Thanks for providing your valuable inputs in resolving this issue.

We had done some investigation and came to know that users were able to run BEX 7 reports from SAP GUI 710 withput any issue but same was not the case when using SAP GUI 720.

The main reason was  Users were not having RFC authorization for the function module "FUNCTION_EXISTS" of the function group "SUNI" when running from SAP GUI 720

After providing necessary authorization to users, now the BEX 7 reports are working fine for them from SAP GUI 720

Thanks again for your support.

Regards,

Jayesh
