Update of SAPJVM6_56 what tool should be used ?

Hi

We have a SAP Portal NW 7.3 ehp 1 with a SAP JVM 6 that should be updated.

The file in SAP is a *.SAR , SAPJVM6_56-10006998.SAR.

How can I apply this new patch ?

The SUM is the tool recomended by SAP but the SUM tool doesn't read *.SAR files when using the option " Manualy prepared directory".

What will be the correct sequence of actualization ?

I already test and JSPM could be used but is not recomended by SAP now ...

Thanks

Sílvia C.

Hi,

Please check the below note.

1133020 - How to import a SAP JVM patch into an AS Java

Updating SAP JVM - SAP Documentation

1025085 - How to manually patch the SAPJVM

I dont think that there should be issue while updating JVM.

Usually as apart of the JVM upgrade you need to update JSPM first and then try to update the JVM....

Hi Rishi

I already read these  notes and the question is if it is possible to install the JVM sp with the SUM tool recomended by SAP since JSPM is no longer supported ( check

SAP Note1589311 - Replacements of outdated tools via SL Toolset)

The *.SAR file of JVM sp is not recognized by the SUM and there is no official SAP Note explaining if it is enough to rename the *.sar to a *.zip to SUM works without problem.

Best Regards

Hi,

I have already read the note but the main point was to point this below sap help still states that JSPM can be used.

Updating SAP JVM - SAP Documentation

and note this.

Patching the SAP JVM using JSPM for NetWeaver 7.3-based systems:

The *.SAR file of JVM sp is not recognized by the SUM and there is no official SAP Note explaining if it is enough to rename the *.sar to a *.zip to SUM works without problem.

No need to change the file to .sar or zip. SUM tool will recognize it . I have ran the sum tool multiple times and it has done it . All the kernel and the JVM are .SAR.

If you still have issue try to download the file again .

or

use latest patch that is 60 Patch instead of 56.

You should be able to user JSPM in SAP NW 7.3x, it is supported until Q3 2014. And after that there will be no further enhancements to JSPM, mean if you encounter issues which is not known issues then SAP wont support.
