BASIS role in SAP Mobile Platform

I am trying to get more insights into SAP Mobile platform and understand the BASIS consultant role in Mobile platform.

Please help me with any links which will help as starting point in understand the mobile platform .

Hi Rahul,

As a BASIS consultant we do have the responsibility of system installation
and end to end configuration of Gateway system with the backend system like
SSO, Maintaining Trusted RFC Activation of services via SICF and maintaining of
ICM port details. Again these are all one time configuration, but which require
a BASIS support.

Apart from this we do have day to day system maintenance and monitoring
which is more similar to other SAP components.

There is no role for a Basis guy in SMP since it is a different product. The SMP administration is different from the SAP basis administration. But if someone is interested SMP administration he can learn and work as SMP administrator that involves LDAP configuration, SSO configuration, applying licenses, creating certificates etc.
