Hi,
We are upgrading SAP R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.
How can I use Solman for managing this Upgrade Project. As per my understanding I can do following things in Solman
1) Define Upgrade Project, Add logical components both Maintenance & Upgrade landscape
2) Activate ChaRM
3) Activate Retrofit & CSOL
Apart from this any other activities I can do in Solman for ECC upgrade management project
Regards
P Kumar
Hi Kumar,
You can used Solution manager tool CDMC for this , there are 3 scenarios in this.
First two scenarios can be use as follows:
1) Clearing Analysis (CA) - To know the usage of the custom objects
2) Upgrade Change Impact Analysis (UCIA) - To check the impact of an upgrade in custom objects and get the effort estimation.
You may also refer SAP Notes 1244713,1316694.
Note 1321095 is specially for UCIA knowledgebase scenario if you do not have upgraded system with you.
Best Regards,
Pritish

Hi Kumar,
As Jansi already mentioned Solution Manager has several capabilities
You can check the entire wiki here
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7684
But practically, you can use whatever you have configured and available for use.
If you are going to do upgrade for ECC , check the functionality already configured within sol man and you can use it only then for e.g. UCIA of CDMC etc
thus, decide which is practically suitable for you
Hope this helps

Prakhar

Hi Kumar,
Solution manager would support end to end application life cycle management functionalities, start from design till the retirement of the systems in your landscape.
1. regarding upgrade, it would be under the maintenance and optimization phase, I could say the other features like change impact analysis of BPCA for identifying the testing effort before the upgrade start. refer
2. There is another important feature is Upgrade /change impact analysis of CDMC, which help to identify testing effort for custom programs
3. Other than that the whole new test management strategy also comes in to support upgrade projects.
4. you can use our document management for test case storage
5. DVM also play major role in upgrade to optimize the downtime as low as possible.

Hello
We are upgrading SAP R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.
How can I use Solman for managing this Upgrade Project.
You need a Solution Manager system to create a stack file for the upgrade.
Without a stack file you cannot start the upgrade.
