Constraints Date does not reflect in Early start and Finish Date

Former Member

Dear all,

I have input constraints date with following dates:

Must start on 10.12.2013 and finish not later than 17.01.2014.

However, under my earlier start and finish date and also last start and finish date, it is showing 10.12.2013. Is this due to configuration issue? If not, how to make it reflects in the dates?

Appreciate if there is someone can advise me on this.

Thanks and regards,

Jessie

What is the duration of the task, it looks like you have specified 0 days?

Also, have you recalculated the schedule?

Hi Ken, is that means that for all activity scheduling, I must specify the duration?

Thanks.

You must enter an activity duration otherwise the start and finish are at exactly the same time.  That is why your start/finish are identical.

If you put in a start and finish hard constraint (must start on, must finish on) it will recalculate the duration.

The difference between the earliest and latest dates is a matter of the scheduling calculations.

Hi,

You must maintain the duration to see the difference in earliest start and finish dates. Constraint dates are like fixing the end points to be executed within start and end date of an activity and it has no effect on earliest start and finish dates of an activity. These will result from scheduling parameters.

The duration must be within the limits of constraint start and finish date.
