Hello Suraj,

Welcome to the PI world, but please note, this forum is designed for expert users. Please do not use this forum to get answers to basic PI questions. You can find the answers to these basic questions by using the search functionality or by using help.sap.com.

Please also familiarise yourself with the The SCN Rules of Engagement.

Hello Suraj,

Welcome to the world of SAP PI. Hope you are aware that the components you mentioned are used during configuration time ie, in Integration Directory.

Communication Party in short Party refers to a system which can be either sender or receiver. This is used when the sender(or the receiver) and the corresponding details are not found in the current landscape.

Business Service also refers to a system but this is used when the definite sender or receiver is not known. Suppose there is one system which is a sender and it needs to send a msg to a receiver that is located in a different landscape( or that system belongs to a different organization), during such times the receiver organization will not give you the definite addresses of their system. At those times you make use of Business service.

So difference between party and service is that party name is used during B2B scenarios and service names are used during A2A scenarios. ( If I'm wrong here, someone please correct me)

Business System If you know the complete details of the system involved, then you make use of it's business system name.

Now, A2A stands for Application to Application and here the communication happens between two applications. ( Those applications must be within the landscape)

B2B stands for Business to Business and here the communication happens between two landscapes or more specifically between two organization systems. Here mostly business processes are involved.

Hope this has been helpful.

HI Suraj

A2A means application to application. Normally this means communication between inter company.

We used business component and business system or service for this. We don't use party.

B2B means business to business.Normally this means communication between different companies.

We use party, service and business component for B2B scenarios.

Hope this will give u a basic idea. You can find lot of documents in SCN for the same.
