Dear all,
We are building one application with SAP Native HANA as backend, where we are creating analytical / calcuation views and stored procedures according to the business requirements.
Currently, the requirement was to import HANA BW cubes (from another instance) into Native HANA.
Instead of using separate HANA db instance, can we use the BW on HANA database instance to create analytical / calculation views and stored procedures, so that we can avoid one HANA db instance.
Please let us know with your views and what is the difference between Native HANA and BW on HANA(database) w.r.to building applications
Regards,
Yogesh
Hi Yogesh,
You can import BW cubes in your BW on HANA instance and then you can use that view in your other customized views or procedures
Don't directly modify the view created from importing BW Models.
Earlier it was not possible to import Cubes (from another instance) into Native HANA although in non productive system it could be possible

If you are on BW 7.4 then there are a bunch of options - see this blog:

I would advise using BW on HANA if you want to use BW cubes. Otherwise you have or replicate out of BW into HANA.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.
Actually, Can we use single database(BW on HANA) instead of Native HANA. I mean we have BW running on HANA database, can we use this database for creating analytical and calculation views as per the business requirements for building new application on top of this HANA database ?
The bottomline is to have single HANA database where we need to have BW and to create/build applications.
Please let us know with your valuable inputs.

Yogesh
Hi Yogesh,
Please read Erich blog about this recurrent question on the multitenancy rules and "what is the difference between MCOS, MCOD etc. and what is possible with HANA?".
