We are going to interview a SRM basis guy.

We need to know if he has SRM basis experence.

Could you provide a questionaire specific to SRM so that

we can test him?

Thanks a lot!

PS: what do you do every day on SRM as a basis person ?

Hi Jennifer,

He should know following

1.How to upgrade the system and should be in position to install new systems.

2.Should be in position to apply notes(SAP correction) on system on ongoing maintainence environment.

3.Maintainence of user id and authorization ,role related activities.

4.Should have good understanding of SAP transport management system and new tools like transport express.

5. Knowledge of solution manager(a new tool from SAP will added advantage).

6.Good analysis skills to answer system related defects .

7.Should possess skills to look for notes (SAP corrections) and should have knowledge of Access maintainece for connectivity with SAP.

You can look at google for Basis guys profile and get some more insight.

Hi Jennifer

If you look at 'Basis', then it is same in both R/3 and SRM. While R/3 uses more of basis, SRM uses more of WAS.

But SRM system administrators need more understanding of integration technologies than R/3. ALE, RFC, ITS, Web Application Server, Web Dispatcher, Reverse Proxy, ABAP+Java installations, Adobe Document Server.....So, it's not just ABAP installation and ABAP system maintenance..there are many other different types of servers which a system administrator should handle.

Thanks a lot!

Could you explain a bit more about the role of ITS in SRM? We have SRM 5.0 and

SRM6.0 here.

Regards.

Hi Jennifer

I guess you meant ECC60.

In SRM50, ITS (Internet Transaction Server) is integrated in WAS.

In simple terms, It is used to provide HTML user interface (convert ABAP into HTML).

More details can be found in (if you do not find in the DVDs you got from SAP):

http://service.sap.com/sap-its

Ramki:

We have an EP7(ABAP+JAVA) connected to an ECC6.0

If I do an ITS connection test , am I testing the ITS at the ECC or the

ITS at EP7?

Since it is a coonection test from EP7, I think it's testing ECC's ITS.

Thanks!

In what context ?? Is this a Basis terminology ? If not, which module you are talking about ? Where you got this term ?

In a previous reply, Nishant Rajan mentioned transport express.

Please help explain. Thx.

Hi

<b>I am unable to recollect this. There is tansport management system (Transaction - STMS) where the BASIS guys, can move the transport request (either Workbench or Configuartion related CTS) from one client to another client in SAP system.

There is a concept for Tranport controller (where you will have all these terminologies).</b>

<u>Just FYI,

With transaction - SU01, you create users in the system.

With PFCG transaction - the BASIS guys, assign roles (other than standard SAP roles to all the user of the system).

SAINT transaction is for System Package check (similar to SPAM transaction).</u>

Hope this will help.
