PMEVC insert characteristic in existing class

We do not normally use PMEVC, but wanted to try for a product to get a better view.

Unfortunately when changing the Class there is no ability to add a Characteristic.  It remains greyed out.

The help here simply says

Assignment of Characteristics

• You can assign a characteristic to a class.

To do this, open the Detailed View of the class, and choose Change. You can insert or append the characteristic in the table on the tab page Characteristics.

Clicking Detail does nothing. 

I attached a simple demo and screen shot for you to see this. 

How do you add a Characteristic to a Class using PMEVC?

It should not be this difficult.

It appears this is because we are not on EHP5 or later yet.

Even i have it activated in ECC 605 , but observed same behaviour.

PLM_PMEVC_1 PLM Variant Configuration Product Modeling Environment Business func. will remain switched on EA-APPL 605 LO-VC-PME

Interesting, thank you for looking at that Ritesh. 

This is very odd then.  It shouldn't be this difficult.  I'm going to check some authorization objects w/ basis.

SU53 gives me green signal , so it confirmed i have related authorizations.

please share once you find out any thing.
