HANA System Copy : High Size appliance to Lower Size appliance assuming DBSIZE = Higher Size appliance

Hello HANA Experts ...

Just we are learning on Sizing for HANA. - HANA System Copy : 512GB to 128 GB

For this instant , Let us understand, I have 512GB HANA System for Production,  and I want to perform Homogeneous Systems copy of it , on to the HANA Appliance of Size 128 GB . [ Assuming no HDD Space short on 128 GB Appliance].

Thinking : 512GB appliance for Production and 128GB appliance for Non-Production [Dev + Quality]

01. Is it possible or not ?

02. If possible - What will be Side Effects of Higher HANA DB Size Copy onto Lower Size Appliance

03. This is to bring TCO of HANA landscape to low ...Are we thinking right or wrong ?

As we are early birds, please if our questions are meaningless ?

Hello,

This is possible. You can restore backup from production to other systems having lesser configuration. Disadvantage would be you cannot expect same performance as on production system.

You can refer to attached ppt in below link for more information.

Thanks,
