BI Java 7.4 upgrade

Hi Experts,

We are planning to upgrade our BI Java 7.01 system to BI Java 7.4 to make use of Portal on Device functionality.

As a prerequisite, is it required to upgrade BI ABAP, which is running on Netweaver 7.01 with BI_CONT 704 SP6?

What are other prerequisites to be checked?

Hello,

This should be possible. As per SAP note 1645590, BW ABAP 7.40 cannot work with lower versions of BI Java 7.01/7.02 but it does not mention about the vice-versa. So, as per my understanding, it should be possible.

You can also raise an OSS to get more information on this.

We have the same scenario, whereby portal (BI JAVA) has been upgraded to 7.40, but we've left BW (BI ABAP) on 7.01.

We're having trouble rendering web templates through the portal, and some issues with SSO, and I'm wondering if this is an incompatibility problem.

Hi Tanya,

Answer is, "in general it is possible" (SAP note: 1645590) .Please check the exceptions also.

Rendering issue can be specific to your browser/Java System component patch level. SSO may have to be reconfigured as part of the BI-Java template re-installation.

Btw, I have not yet done this exercise..
