Kernel Patch Upgrade - issue

Dear All,

In our SOLMAN Patch level is 114,

I want to increase to last but one 400 , I did it by downloading from market place uncaring and saving in usr/sap/sys/exe and usr/sap/dvebmgs

System is Up, but same 114 package level is seen.

Guide me on it.Thanks

I believe you are using MSSQL database.

You need to download these two files.

SAPEXE_402-10007272.SAR

SAPEXEDB_402-10007271.SAR

I have another Server on the same machine, Which is having patch 500 present.

Run this command as sidadm and provide the output please

sapcontrol -nr 02 -function GetVersionInfo

I believe the system number is 02

I think you have downloaded

SAPEXEDB_402-10007271.SAR only not SAPEXE_402-10007272.SAR ,,,Please confirm that you have downloaded the both above file.

Like I said before you need to extract both the archives.

As this is on Windows you need to stop all the SAP services from services.msc before you copy.

You have to use both the file and extract it ,,,,stop sap and all services ,,then only upgrade in D:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64,,,,,,,

Dear Srini,

May be some issue will be there in MMC. have you closed and reopened the MMC?

alternatively u can open another mmc,

1. open command prompt type mmc.

2. Goto File menu--> Add/remove snapin

3. Select "SAP System manager" from the list and click ADD button

4. and follow the step.

Can you say why is it showing like that.

As this is a Solution Manager you need to check whether the J2EE is up and running.

Most probably Java is down and that could be the reason.

If your ABAP stack is up then only you are able to login na..for checking java stack try to login http://<IP OF SOLMAN>:80$$/nwa and try if you are able to login....

For yellow dispatcher issue try ,,,

If you're on windows, copy the new sapstartsrv.exe from the new kernel directory to C:\windows\system32 and restart your instance

Hi Srini

Can you confirm that the SAP System was running all right after you performed the kernel upgrade ?  Or is it the 1st time that you are trying to start the system up..

Hello

Provide me the kernel archive file names (DB and DB independent) you have downloaded from SAP.

You need to put the new kernel in the DIR_CT_RUN location.

If the files present here are the older ones then sapcpe will copy these files to the DIR_EXECUTABLE location (/usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS00/exe) location.

You need to download SAPEXEDBxxx (Database specific) and SAPEXE (Database independent) files and extract them.

Once i had face the same issue , First of all no need to upgrade kernel in all the place ,only

usr\sap\QRD\DVEBMGS00\exe  place in enough for upgrade second ,,,if you are still facing the issue ...go into kernel location run the vcredist_x64.msi ....and then restart the sap and check if it is effected...

and run the vcredist_x64.msi ,,,,issue was resolved ,,,do one thing stop everything and try os restart also,,

Hi Srinivas,

Have you downloaded all the database independent and database dependent files and extracted everything to folder /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/<uc or nuc>.

Before applying the 400 patch have you stopped the SAP, database and SAPOSCOL

Always keep the backup of old running kernel for revert situation.

It's quite basic. You are not upgrading your kernel at right place. Please refer to SAP Note 19466 - Downloading SAP kernel patches.
