How to enable SSO passport for Service Marketplace

Former Member

Hello

Does anyone knows what is needed in order to enable SSO passport for Service Marketplace. Namely in Internet Explorer I got error:

"No technical request data was transferred from the previous page. Usually this occurs if ActiveX is not enabled. Enable 'Active X plugins' in the Internet Explorer:

Tools > Internet Options > Tab Security > Custom Level... > Mark Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins. Click on Apply for SAP Passport again."

I tried this hint but it did not help. It is happenning in Internet Explorer 11. Should I downgrade it. If so how can I do that?

Thank you in advance

Jan

Hi Jan,

I believe downgrading from IE11 to IE9 should help.

Thanks

Hi all,

I found a workaround to be able to install SAP certificate.

Once you followed site recommandation (adding trusted site and install root certificates), you have to activate emulation feature from IE11 to emulate IE10 :

press F12

then go down or press CTRL+8 to access emulation panel to choose version 10 for document mode :

Let this developper tab opened until you install certificate : it should work fine now as the activeX is correctly triggered.

Hope this helps !

Hi Pierre,

Thanks for your input.

Unluckily I cannot reproduce the solution.

When I perform as described, IE always tries to download the certificate instead of installing it (regardless in which compatibility mode I am).

Did you perform any additional steps in order to enable the certificate installation?

Hi,

Check also the following settings  :

- in IE option / security tab:  check in trusted sites that SAP sites are in the list (sap-ag.de and tcs.mysap.com), and custom authorisation for activeX to enable execution (disable activeX filtering)

- in compatibility view settings, add sap-ag.de and mysap.com in the list

- disable also the popup blocker which was a problem in older version.

In any case, if you manage to generate and download the certificate, you can then import it manually in your browser : double click on it, and once opened, click on install. You can follow the wizard and let it choose the right storage or choose manually your personnal one.

In any case, use IE10 or IE9 emulation mode and let the bottom box opened (otherwise it switch to IE5 mode which might explain your problem)

Ok... that worked for me. But I had to follow the entire set of instructions to get it installed.

Here is what I did;

  • Open Internet Explorer and open the Internet Options
  • Under Trusted Sites, add *.sap-ag.de and *.mysap.com
  • Set "Custom Level" and made sure all necessary Active X was enabled (execution and disabled filtering)
  • In Compatibility View, I also added the two sites from above
  • Disabled the pop-up blocker
  • Closed IE and reopened to the SSO site (Link above)
  • Press F12 then CTRL+8 and changed the document mode to version 9 (Yes 9, not 10)
  • Clicked on the APPLY button and it opened a pop-up where I pressed F12 and CTRL+8 to set the document mode to 9
  • Entered my password...

Once finished it installed automatically.

Thanks for all the input!

I still get the same message as always...

Error - Applying for an SAP Passport

The SAP Passport was not installed in your browser.

1. No technical request data was transferred from the previous page. Usually this occurs if ActiveX is not enabled.

2. Enable "ActiveX plugins" in the Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options > Tab Security > Custom Level... > Mark Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins.

3. Click on Apply

And nothing will install.

Hi Terry,

I think you have previously used this SSO passport in system and after OS change you are facing this problem.

Am I right ?

No... the certificate expired. I needed to get a new one and reload it.

Hi Terry,

Try like this once:

Remove the SAP Passport in Internet Explorer

1. Choose Extras > Internet options ...The Internet options window appears.

2. Click on contents...The contents tab appears.

3. Click on certificates ...The certificates window appears.

4. Highlight your expired SAP Passport and click Remove

Then install the new passport.

Make sure that ActiveX is enabled and follow these steps:

Adding Trusted Sites to the Internet Explorer

  1. Start your Internet Explorer
  2. Find the Internet Options: ToolsInternet Options.
  3. You can see the Internet Options now. Click on the tab Security.
  4. We have to add two trusted sites: Click on Trusted Sites and use the button Sites.
  5. Add the following two links to the trusted sites list:
  6. Close this window by clicking on Close and the Internet Options by clicking on OK.

Download and Install the Certificate

  1. Follow http://service.sap.com/tcsrootcert.
  2. Use the link SAP Passport CA Certificate.
  3. You get a file download warning. Choose the option Open.
  4. On the next window use the button Install Certificate...
  5. The Certificate Import Wizard starts. Proceed by clicking on Next.
  6. Select the option Place all certificates in the following store and click on Browse.
  7. Choose the store Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
  8. Click on Next and afterwards on Finish.
  9. Confirm the security warning with Yes.
  10. You should get a successful import notification

Hi Terry,

In this link:

SAP Trust Center Service - Root Certificates

Those first 2 or 3 certificates I tried import into

Internet options --> Content --> Certificates --> Trusted root certification tab

Like this I tried. Once try like this and then apply the certificate.

If it works good.

I can't remember clearly, I too faced a lot of struggle and finally succeeded. I to succeed I have done many things. Exported and imported certificates. So can't remember clearly.

So sorry for it. Can't able to help you.

Finally once try this one. If it works good.

Terry,

I faced exactly the same problem and all the suggested workarounds didn't work for me too. My personal solution was downgrading IE to release 10. It was not a big deal. I just uninstalled the latest update. Then SAP Certificates worked again. Hope this helps.

Hey thanks for the update. It will be useful for the people in SCN if they face the same issue.

Thanks... but... For all of the incompatibility issues faced using IE11, I hate to keep downgrading, then upgrading, just to find a solution.

Thank you for the update.

I have tried all of the options listed, and I too am unable to install my certificate in Internet Explorer 11.

Has anyone else been able to get this to work?

Thanks,
