SAP failed to start after changing the net attribute

Dear all,

We have 2 i5 called Zeus and Apollon.

We did the following steps:

1. Made a backup of SAP systems on Zeus (DB, IFS and all related objects).

2. Restored them on Apollon.

3. Disconnected Apollon from the network.

4. Renamed Apollon to Zeus, so DSPNETA shows the machine is called Zeus.

5. Keeping the profiles name and their content as it is on Zeus.

When I started the SAP system it still searched for Apollon, as I found it from the log. The system still search for the system configuration and profiles on Apollon. Even from the log I found the application server is called Apollon_ maximum number of sockets supported on this

host (1990) less than parameter icm/max_sockets (2048) #icxxman_mt.c 2513¤

#Thr 1¤ ICM running on: apollon.dkecco01

#Thr 1¤ Thu Mar 15 11:07:16 2007

#Thr 1¤ MtxInit: -2 0 0

#Thr 1¤ IcmInit: listening to admin port: 65000

#Thr 1¤ DpSysAdmExtCreate: ABAP is active

#Thr 1¤ DpShMCreate: sizeof(wp_adm) 38280 (1320)

=========================================================

We use HMC to logon to "Zeus" that was called Apollon before, because it is disconnected from our network.

Please help and thanks before.

Regards

Usually SAP does not look at the information in DSPNETA, but the information in CFGTCP option 12. Also you need to make sure that the IP address of your server is known as the new host locally (CFGTCP option 10) or in the domain name server.

Kind regards,

Christian Bartels.

Dear Victor and Christian,

Thanks for your answers. The information is very helpfull, but we don't dare to do the related change, because there is a risk of losing the configuration of Apollon.

I think we should do a total system restore to be able to try it.

Kind regards

Hello Agoes,

Besides CHGNETA, I would also do CHGDMNA (go cfgtcp - change domain attributes) to adjust the hostname for TCP/IP (kind of Must do); then WRKRDBDIRE (or WRKRDB* to find the command) and adjust the *LOCAL entry (required for Java stack).

Best regards,

Victor
