Defining Project for Retrofit

Former Member

Hi ,

I have below logical component

Upgarde Project : DEV1 -> QA1

Maintenance Landscape: Dev -> Quality -> Prod

I want use Retrofit, so do I need to define only one project or two different project

Pl note for Maintenance landscape I have already Maintenance proejct for which ChaRM already activated.

To use Retrofit do I need to have both logical components ( Maintenance & Upgrade) in same project ?

Regards

PK

Hi Prakhar,

Thanks. I checked this blog & there is note mentioned by Dolores which says we can have two projects one for Implementation & another for Maintenance Project.

1) In my case I am already using Maintenance Project for ChaRM. But now if I have to use Retrofit I need to have Retrofit system, so at this point if I add the Retrofit system in the existing Maintenance logical component is it Ok, will project be consistent ?

2) My another query is for Maintenance Project I am using Urgent Change & for Implementation Project I will use Normal Change. Will that matters for Retrofit ?

3) Is retrofit works for both Normal Change & Urgent Change ?

4) I want to use Retrofit for Upgrade Project, so can I define Upgrade Project & activate ChaRM for the same, in which two systems will be there Development -> Quality. Is it possible to activate ChaRM for two system landscape where we have only Development & Quality, no production.

Regards

PK

Hi PK,

In ChaRM- Retrofit functionality will help in order to keep the two development system in sync.

How you design the transport route between the support landscape and Project landscape.

Both are in separate transport route?

Normally the support landscape and Project landscape having same Production landscape( but u have mentioned PRD1 and PRD2)

https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000413492011E

Maintained the logical for retrofit as shown below

Please check the document .

After Transport released in Dev system( maintannace landscape, MNT), TOC is created with retrofit data in MNT system.

Goto project landscape and create the TR in task list.

then start the retrofit , it will show source TR , then select the Retrofit TR's( which is cretaed in the project or impl landscape and select Auto-import.

Also if required more details, provide the transport route of both landscape for more input.

CREATE TWO LOGICAL COMPONENTS WITH NEW MAINT PROJ OR ADD NEW ONE IN THE EXISTING PROJECT BY CLOSING MAINTENANCE CYCLE FOR RETROFIT requirement

2) My another query is for Maintenance Project I am using Urgent Change & for Implementation Project I will use Normal Change. Will that matters for Retrofit ?

IT DOESN'T MATTER AND YOU BASIC IS CORRECT UC and NC for Maint and NC for implementation

3) Is retrofit works for both Normal Change & Urgent Change ?

yes it works for both type of changes

hope this helps

Prakhar, Karthik - what will the 2 logical component look like ?

in the below case how will changes from the implementation get applied to MNT100 and QAS100 using the tasklist ??

example1:

                                   Dev        QA         PRD         Retrofit

Logi Comp  MAINT:    MNT100 - QAS100 - PRD100 - DEV100

Logi Comp  IMPL:       DEV100 - TST100 -  PRD100
